Linlithgow Tennis Club
Tennis is a wonderful sport for keeping people of all ages active. It can have a positive effect on the physical and mental wellbeing of players and is open to players of all ages and abilities.
We are a friendly and progressive Club with an active membership made up of players of all ages. We are open to all members of the community. Our four all-weather floodlit courts are ideal for all levels of player and are open 365 days a year. New members are always welcome.
The Club is a British Tennis Registered Venue and meets the LTA’s Minimum Safeguarding Standards.
Tennis Court Replacement Project
We are delighted to be announcing some exciting news! After years of watching the tennis courts and fencing deteriorate, the club has now reached the stage where we can undertake a complete reconstruction of the court sub-base, playing surface and fencing. It is anticipated this work will start in spring 2022, and should take about 8 to 10 weeks, subject to certain temperatures being met when the top surface is laid, so we all need to hope for a nice warm April!
The majority of the finances are in place but there’s still a significant financial shortfall hence the club is fundraising. We are asking all club members to help out where they can by organising fundraising activities, or by making donations. The Committee has kicked this off with a sponsored 'Keepy Uppy' challenge on Sunday October 17th. Sponsor forms for all fundraising activities can be downloaded here. For those who are tax payers, the club can claim Gift Aid – just download the Gift Aid declaration form here and email it to any committee member.
This is such an exciting project and we can’t wait to get out onto the new courts and play!
The health and safety of our members and others is paramount at this time. By its very nature, tennis is an activity whereby close person-to-person contact can be avoided. The Scottish Government guidance on coronavirus restrictions, Tennis Scotland and the Lawn Tennis Association have developed a set of practical guidelines for clubs, coaches and players to follow so that tennis can be played in Scotland, where the local environment allows. Full details can be found in the Tennis Scotland / LTA summary grid and full guidance document for tennis venues, coaches and players.
Please comply with the following measures whilst at the Club. Using the courts will be taken as your agreement to abide by these rules. They will help to keep tennis open for us all to enjoy.
- Please follow current guidelines on physical distancing.
- Please follow current guidelines on numbers of people who can meet socially.
- Good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette is advised. Wash hands or use alcohol gel after touching shared surfaces, such as gates and benches.
- You must book your tennis court in advance to enable us to collect user details and comply with Test and Protect. No’ walk-on’ tennis without booking.
- Face coverings are still required by law when moving around the Clubhouse.
- Car sharing - when travelling to other clubs eg; for matches, the advice is to avoid car sharing unless you deem it necessary. If you do share, continue to follow Transport Scotland advice on how to travel safely.
- Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 or self-isolating must not attend the Club. Stay at home and follow NHS advice.
Our Head Coach, Gordon Watson, is a Level 4 Performance Coach with many years of tennis experience, both as a player and as a coach. He and his coaching team are LTA qualified and disclosure checked (PVG).
The coaching programme takes place in line with current Scottish Government and LTA / Tennis Scotland guidelines. Details of Summer Camps and coaching classes are posted on this website and our Facebook page. Classes can be booked on the Total Tennis App but if you are new, please contact Gordon first to find a suitable class by clicking the ‘Contact Tennis Coach’ button on the right. Players must be members of the club in order to access coaching. You can join on this website.
Coaching takes place outdoors in all weather, except when courts are very wet or slippery. Lessons are unlikely to be cancelled and appropriate clothing for the conditions is therefore essential. Players should bring water to all lessons.
