Welcome To The Tennis Section
About the tennis club
We are a friendly and progressive Club with an active membership made up of players of all ages. Our four all-weather floodlit courts are ideal for all levels of player and are open 365 days a year. We offer a full coaching programme led by LTA qualified coaches for pre-school players to adults. We also have up to 20 teams participating in leagues and cups throughout the year. For those who just want to come along to enjoy social tennis, there are club nights twice weekly and plenty of free court time for those who like to arrange their own tennis. New members are always welcome.
The Club is a British Tennis Registered Venue and meets the LTA’s Minimum Safeguarding Standards. Anyone who would like to try out tennis before joining or signing up to coaching may do so by contacting Head Coach, Gordon Watson.
Coaching for junior and adult members is provided by our Head Coach, Gordon Watson, and his team. Gordon is a Level 4 Performance Coach with many years of tennis experience, both as a player and as a coach. All coaches and coaching assistants in the team are LTA qualified and disclosure checked (PVG). Individual lessons are also available. Contact Gordon for details and prices.
New to Tennis?
Juniors – Contact Gordon to arrange a trial lesson (£7) before signing up to a coaching block and joining the club.
Adults, Students & Teenagers – Contact Gordon to arrange a lesson or to attend a free Senior & Teen Club Night on Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. (April to September)
Coaching for adult and junior members takes place during school term time. Holiday ‘Camps’ run during Easter, Summer and October school holidays for pre-school to teenage children. Non members may attend the holiday camps. Details will be posted on the website.
AGE GROUPS are as defined by the LTA. Your child’s age on the next 31st March and 31st August will determine their summer and winter age group.
Red – 8 & under ; Orange – 9 ; Green – 10 ; Yellow – 11 & over
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER: Coaching takes place outdoors in all weather, except when courts are very wet or slippery – the coach may take the children indoors on these occasions. Lessons are unlikely to be cancelled. Appropriate clothing for the conditions is therefore essential. In the sun and heat, wear a hat, sunscreen and bring plenty of water. In cold weather, a sweatshirt, hat and jogging bottoms are best. In WET weather, make sure tennis shoes have good tread on the soles to avoid slipping. Wear a light waterproof and cap. Bring water to all lessons.
Social tennis for club members takes place four times a week and is free. Floodlights are funded by the club. All standards of player are welcome to come along and join in. There’s no need to bring a partner – just turn up and be ready to mix in.
Monday Club Nights: adult members 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Wednesday Club Nights : teenagers and adults 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Friday Club Morning: mainly ladies but all welcome 9am – 10.30am
Saturday Club Afternoon: adult members 1.30pm - 3pm

Tennis members have the opportunity to enter our annual Wimbledon ticket ballot which is held in early spring. Each year the LTA gives an allocation of tickets to the club. The number of tickets we receive is based on the number of our members who have joined the LTA as British Tennis Members. They must also have linked their membership to ‘Linlithgow LTC’ and ‘opted in’ to the ballot by the required date. Eligible members age 11 and over may enter the ballot.
We encourage all Tennis Club members to become British Tennis Members and ‘opt in’ to help the club receive more tickets. It’s free and easy to join via the LTA website. Sign up as a ‘Club Member’.
Tickets allocated to the club will be notified to members mid March and the ballot will take place by the end of April each year. Full information on entering the ballot is distributed to members in March. New members interested in entering the ballot should contact the secretary for details.
We have a wide variety of tournaments on offer throughout the year and hope there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
Tournament Days are social competitions for members which take place regularly, going indoors at Linlithgow Academy in winter. Check club Face Book for information or contact Gordon to enter.
The club runs two open tournaments annually. The Linlithgow Mini Open for ages 8 - 10 takes place in June. The Linlithgow Junior Open for ages 12 - 18 is held in September. Entry is via the LTA website.
The Tennis Club has a number of adult and junior teams playing in the Tennis Central Scotland and Aegon leagues. If you are interested in playing for team, please contact the relevant team captain or for further information email the tennis secretary.
